I think anyone with their finger on the pulse of mainstream indie music (that sounds really weird to say) has heard “My Girls” from Animal Collective. It’s kind of their defining song. It was the peak of their peak, written by the buzz-worthy in his own right Panda Bear for their Merriweather Post Pavilion . . . → Read More: Best Remix of Animal Collective’s My Girls

Ariel Pink is a strange dude. I admittedly love weird lo-fi music (I’m really not a hipster elitist – I promise), so of course I’m a fan of Ariel Pink and his Haunted Graffiti.
Here’s a video for one of my personal favorite Ariel Pink tracks – Politely Declined. Everything about this is crazy . . . → Read More: Ariel Pink’s Politely Declined Video

As you’ll notice by peering over to the right of this (or any) page within my WordPress blog, I’m using a streaming music player widget called Grooveshark. It was actually pretty simple to setup, so here’s a brief mini-tutorial to put a Grooveshark music player widget on your WordPress Blog.

Many people that know me know that I’m an avid video game player. Especially, I am an avid fan of console RPGs. I know most die-hard RPG fans (especially J-RPG fans) will scoff at anyone playing a Final Fantasy game. Sure, the Final Fantasy franchise has suffered a slow decline since the days of the Super Nintendo system. I’ll still check out a new FF game from time to time to see if it’s captured the fun and brilliance of the early games in the series. So, alas, I received Final Fantasy 13 for my Playstation 3 as a birthday gift. I popped it in and played it for a little while, then my screen froze. Maybe it wasn’t a coincidence… Continue reading Final Fantasy 13 has broken my PS3 blu-ray drive

I’m on the hunt for local lo-fi and indie music. It’s actually a little difficult to find exactly what I’m looking for, so I’m open to suggestions. I’m looking for creative and resourceful musicians that make the most of what they have. Nothing that is or sounds “high production”. Local musicians should stand by . . . → Read More: Lo-Fi Indie Music in Rochester, Buffalo, or Syracuse

Carles from Hipster Runoff is a pretty clever guy. His satirical elitist attitude is worth reading if you’ve never read his blog or heard his radio show on Sirius XMU. He probably peaked in 2K9, as most of his material is pretty much rehashing things he’s already said. Honestly, he has a short shelf . . . → Read More: Hipster Runoff – A blog worth blogging about

I have to say that I’ve taken a liking to The Weekend – an indie band out of San Francisco. They kind of have a Joy Division lite vibe accompanied with the beauty of an early Sonic Youth style feedback noise. Many many people have tried to emulate the emotion of Ian Curtis, which . . . → Read More: Weekend the Band

Now that 2010 is in the history books, I figured I’d reveal my personal top 5 songs and albums from 2010. Everyone likes top X lists right? Maybe they’re just a guilty pleasure of mine. I don’t consider myself an elitist by any means, but I’ve always favored under the radar indie music. Without . . . → Read More: Best music of 2010 – My top 5 songs and top 5 albums
